Happy Friday, all! It is truly the most perfect day here with clear blue skies, 70 degree weather and birds chirping away.
I wanted to give a bit of a life / goal update this week because as the title points out, there are some changes.
First off, next Friday will be my last day at my current job before I start my new job the following Monday. Ah! I am so incredibly excited to start this new job but I am also nervous about this huge change. It has been over two years at this current job but it was definitely time for a change. So 2019 Goal number 2 (find a job that inspires you) has been achieved!
Since my entire team is located in a different city, my friends are coming over for a bit of a celebration tonight with wine and desserts. I am making magical toffee and chocolate covered Oreos, while my friends are bringing cupcakes and cookies. I have decided to pair the desserts with a nice Prosecco because it truly is the perfect celebratory drink.
Second, I have utterly failed at 2019 goals number 4 (spend less time on your phone) and 5 (cut back on social media) this week. I blame it on this Khloe Kardashian, Tristan Thompson, and Jordyn Woods cheating scandal. I really do try to avoid drama at all costs but this story has so many twists and turns that I cannot help but be sucked in.
As you know, goal number 3 is to be less judgmental of others, so I am really trying not to cast judgment on any of the parties involved simply because no one knows the full story except the parties involved. We are all getting pieces of the full story and a lot of gossip that could be true or it could be making things sound that much worse. But, I will say that if it is true, I hope Khloe finds the happiness she deserves. I could not imagine what I would do in her or Kylie’s position so I hope all parties can get through this.
Back to my own life updates.
Third, with this perfect weather lately it is hard not to want to be in nature or outside. I spent this Monday (I had the day off work) strolling the beach and just enjoying life. I have started this habit of taking a shell whenever I am out in nature to remind me of how wonderful life is on any tough days I might have. So far I have five shells.
Shell number one was from a bit of a tough time in my life when I went through a rough breakup. I got in my car and just drove. I ended up at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach where I completed a six mile hike and then strolled the beach by the fort. It is honestly a beautiful place if you have not been. But I found this beautiful shell while walking the beach and brought it back to remind me of the wonderful day I had had.
The other shells are from Anastasia State Park in Saint Augustine (I took two from here), Little Talbot Island State Park in Jacksonville, and Atlantic Beach in Atlantic Beach.
If you ever venture somewhere and have an incredible day, I recommend taking something to remember that day and place by. And, please only take something if you are allowed to remove items from that park or place. Do not be stealing shells or pebbles when it is forbidden. But I find it empowering to look at this jar of shells I have collected on adventures and remind myself how lucky I am to be alive.
As a final update, there are various 2019 goals I need to put more energy into. For instance, I have been slacking on learning new sports. I cannot remember the last time I went rollerblading, which is a huge bummer because I love it so much! So hopefully I can set aside sometime this weekend to get some rollerblading in.
Sticking to your goals after January is tough. The excitement of the new year has worn off and reverting back to old habits just seems to happen. But, stay strong! I have been pretty iffy on some of my goals but I know if I put in the energy and work on achieving these goals, I will feel so much better.
So stay with it! If you wanted to drop a few pounds but lost motivation after January, get back to it. You have around ten more months left in the year, you can do it!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I hate to say goodbye but I have about 36 Oreos waiting to be dipped in chocolate.
